User Data

The following text fields are what comprise of User Data. In tours, copy the data to all other nodes by clicking the copy to all nodes button (Pro only). If more editing space is required, click the pencil button to open the Rich Text Editor.

If the panoramas have Exif data, then some fields will be occupied with that data.

  • Custom Node ID – Provide a custom ID for the node.

Custom Node ID

Here you can create custom IDs for each node in a tour. For example, the custom ID can describe a room in a tour of a house. It can then be used in the URL to open a tour in a specific node: ../index.html#kitchen. To use, select Direct node access in the HTML Normal Template.

Custom node IDs must begin with a letter and may only contain letters, digits, or underscores. The naming scheme of the internal node IDs (node1, node2, …) cannot be used, and a warning icon appears next to the field if the ID is already used in the project.

Placeholders can be used. For instance, you could go to Edit Master Node, and put $(ut) into the Custom Node ID field to use the user data title as the custom node ID in each node.

Learn more about Direct Node Access.

Edit Master Node

The master node acts like a template that will be used across all nodes within a tour.

For instance, you can add user data, a patch, or hotspots and these would appear on all nodes. Click Edit Master Node User Data to switch to the master node. The button is available in tours. You can also edit the Master Node by going to the Tour menu and choosing, Edit Master Node.

Once the data is added, it’ll be seen in the User Data of all nodes. The text will be gray. The Master Node data can be overwritten in each node.

While the master node is being edited, the Capture and Tags sections are hidden.

To get out of the Master Node, click on a node in the Tour Browser.

Custom Properties

If your project needs more user data fields, you can add them as custom properties. Click the plus button to add a new custom property. A dialog will appear where you can define the parameters:

Custom Property Parameters - Number Type
Custom Property Parameters – Number Type

A custom property is a variable that can be used in the skin. Enter a Description (shown as the property’s label in the panel), a Variable Name, and a Default Value. For Type, choose from Text, Number, or True/False. The variable name and type cannot be changed when editing an existing property.

For each type, you can control how the variable is displayed by setting Limits:

  • None – No limits. For Text, this gives a single text field. For Numbers, an editable number chooser. For True/False, a dropdown list.
  • Minimum / Maximum – Set a range for number variables. Enter the minimum and maximum values, and choose to display the range as a Number Box or as a Slider. Use Precision to set the number of decimal places.
  • List – Create a list of options as key-value pairs. For example, Key = 1, Value = Hello; Key = 2, Value = World. You can display the list as a Dropdown, a Color Dropdown (Text type only; use Hex color codes for the Key), or as Multiple Choice (radio buttons).

Capture

Capture Date and Time

Capture Date and Time
Capture Date and Time

Imports the image’s capture date and time. If the time and date changed at some point in the workflow, it can be changed here by selecting the correct date. The field shows not available if no capture date and time is set. This field will be used when uploading to Street View using the image’s Exif data assuming Date and Time Exif has been selected in Pano2VR’s settings. In tours, use the copy to all nodes button to copy the capture date and time to all nodes.

Latitude and Longitude

Enter the GPS coordinates of the node, or set them in the Tour Map in one of these ways:

  • Search for an address in the Tour Map. A flag marks the place that was found; click the flag to move the current node there.
  • Double-click in the Tour Map to place the current node.
  • Drag the node’s red pin to change its position.

The coordinates in the User Data update as you place the node. In tours, use the copy to all nodes button to copy the latitude and longitude to all nodes.

Select Lock next to Geoposition to protect the node’s GPS position. While locked, the latitude, longitude, altitude, and north fields cannot be edited, the node’s pin cannot be dragged in the Tour Map, and automatic updates leave the position unchanged. If the position was derived, hover over the Lock checkbox to see which nodes it was derived from.

Altitude

If altitude has been added to the metadata, then this field will be automatically filled. You can, however, manually add the altitude. Altitude is referenced to WGS84 and is displayed in meters or feet, depending on the Units setting in Pano2VR’s settings.

Clicking the satellite button will open a dialog asking for the height of the tripod. Enter the height and Pano2VR will add this height to the altitude. Altitude is fetched from Google Maps. If you’re using your API key, add Google’s Maps Elevation API to your API key (Google may charge for this). The satellite button is only available when the node has GPS coordinates.

To apply elevation data for an entire tour, not a single node, select all nodes in the tour in the tour browser and then click the satellite button. You will be asked whether to retrieve altitude data for all selected nodes or just the current node.

Use Clear to remove the altitude data of the current node. The field then shows not set.

Derived From

When a 3D model is linked to tour nodes via camera points, Pano2VR can derive GPS positions in both directions with the Derive button (satellite icon) in the Tour Map:

  • Derive GPS Position – Calculates the 3D model’s GPS position, heading, and Units/Meter from the tour nodes linked to its camera points. At least 2 linked tour nodes with directly set GPS positions are needed.

  • Derive GPS Cameras – Calculates GPS positions for the linked tour nodes that do not have a GPS position yet. The 3D model needs a GPS position first.

To geolocate a model-based tour:

  1. Link the model to your tour nodes with camera points.

  2. Give at least two of the linked nodes a GPS position, for example by double-clicking their locations in the Tour Map.

  3. Select the model node and choose Derive > Derive GPS Position in the Tour Map. The model gets its GPS position and heading.

  4. Choose Derive > Derive GPS Cameras to give all remaining linked nodes a GPS position based on their camera points.

Nodes with derived positions are updated again the next time you derive. Select Lock to keep a position from being changed; hovering over the Lock checkbox shows which nodes the position was derived from.

North

Indicates North. If North was recorded by the camera, this will be automatically filled. If not, you can set North manually:

Press and hold the N key and drag the panorama to the correct heading. If the nodes are linked, you will see a thumbnail of that panorama to help guide placement.

Set North
Set North

Current – This displays the current angle of the panorama in the Viewer.

Set – Click to set North. This will take the current view in the Viewer as North and set it.

Copy North to All Nodes – Click to copy North to all nodes. Visible in multi-node projects.

Shift North – Click to provide an offset (-180° to 180°) for North to all selected nodes.

Tags

Use Tags to organize images within a tour and to help trigger skin elements.

Use tags to filter in the Tour Browser or within a Node Marker.

Learn more.

Right-click a tag to do the following actions:

  • Rename – Rename the tag.

  • Remove from Project – This removes the tag from the entire project.

  • Save as Standard Tag – Save the tag as a standard tag. Standard tags can be quickly applied to nodes from the Tour menu (Standard Tags).

  • Assign Color – Choose a color to assign to the selected tag. This color will then be visible in the node’s thumbnail image in the Tour Browser.

  • Assign Symbol – Choose a symbol to assign it to the selected tag. The symbol will also be displayed in the Tour Browser.

Auto Tags

Each panorama and 3D model is automatically given a set of tags to help with filtering and to provide some useful information. Tags can be anything from No Title to Polygon Hotspots. When you have many nodes, you can use these Auto Tags to filter in the Tour Browser. Auto Tags are available in Pano2VR Pro.

Right-click an auto tag to do the following actions:

  • Mute Tag – Remove the auto tag from all nodes in the project. A muted tag is removed from the Auto Tags list.

  • Unmute Tag – Restore a previously muted auto tag. Right-click any Auto Tag and choose Unmute Tag to return the muted tag to the list.

  • Assign Color – Choose a color to assign to the selected auto tag.

  • Assign Symbol – Choose a symbol to assign to the selected auto tag.

  • Export Auto Tag – Export the auto tag with a title of your choosing.

Auto Tags can be exported to the Skin Editor so that you can build actions based on the tags. Learn how.

Floor Plan Tags

Nodes that are placed on a floor plan inherit the tags of that floor plan. Add the tags in the Floor Plan Properties. The inherited tags are listed here and cannot be edited. The list only appears when the node has floor plan tags.

Model Tags

Nodes that are linked to a camera point of a 3D model inherit the tags assigned to that model. Add the tags in the 3D Model Properties. The inherited tags are listed here and cannot be edited. The list only appears when the node has model tags.
