Working with 360º Video

Did you know Pano2VR has supported 360º video since 2007? Of course it’s not a full-fledged video software and we don’t try to be. But sometimes your clients ask for a bit more than just a few still panorama images. You can integrate the videos in a tour or create a full 360º video tour.

Pano2VR does not stitch the videos.

Create an Interactive 360º Video

  1. Drag a stitched equirectangular 360º video panorama to the Viewer (or Tour Browser).

The video will appear in the Viewer with playback controls.

Pano2VR will automatically extract a poster frame if FFmpeg is installed. The poster frame is a normal equirectangular panorama and is used as a preview image. Also, if the browser can’t play back the video, it will show the interactive still instead.

Pano2VR will extract the first frame of the video per default. This can be a problem if the panorama fades in from black. In this case, a black panorama will be the poster frame. To pick a different frame of the video, play the video to the desired position, and click the Grab Frame button (right of the seek bar).

  2. (Optional) Add alternative files. Here, you would add different resolutions of the main video. This way, the browser will go through the list and play the first video it can play back.

  3. Set the default view.

  4. (Optional) Add elements like hotspots and sounds to the video.

  5. (Optional) Add a skin. You can use, for example, the Seekbar element so you can scrub through the video or play and pause buttons.

  6. Output with HTML5.

✭ If your 360 video is not playing back, it could be because Windows cannot natively playback large videos. Please download and install the K-lite Codec Pack. The Basic pack should be enough.
