Transformation Output Properties
Use Transformation to re-project the panorama to create a thumbnail preview image or an image for print.
Preview
This is the output preview.
Right-click the preview image to change its size. Options of Small, Medium and Large. The default is Medium. You can also detach the preview to make it even larger by choosing Detach. Right-click the detached preview to reattach it (Attach) or to keep it above all other windows (Stay on top).
Transformation
Type – Begin your thumbnail creation or image remapping by first choosing which shape or type of image you want. Set the default type by right-clicking the type and choosing Set as Default.
Choose from the following:
- Equirectangular
- Sphere
- Mirror Ball
- Fisheye
- Stereographic (Little Planet)
- Angular Map
- Rectilinear (default view)
- Mercator
- Cylinder
- Vertical Cross
- Horizontal Cross
- Vertical Tee
- Horizontal Tee
- Vertical Strip
- Horizontal Strip
- Horizontal Strip (VR) (for use with the Oculus 360 app and Samsung’s GearVR)
- Cube Faces
- 3×2 (video)
- 3×2 (no overlap)
Face Names – Available when the type is Cube Faces. Choose the suffix
that is appended to the output file name of each of the six cube face images.
The face order is front, right, back, left, top, bottom. Choose from
'_0'..'_5' (the default), '_1'..'_6', '00'..'05', '11'..'66',
'front'..'bottom', 'front'..'down', 'f'..'d', or 'ft'..'dn'.
Image Size – Define the size of your image expressed in pixels (Width x Height). Depending on the Type chosen, will depend on which fields can be edited. Horizontal Strip and Horizontal Strip (VR) use the height to automatically determine the width. Types with a fixed aspect ratio (for example, the crosses, tees, Vertical Strip, Cube Faces, Sphere, and Equirectangular) calculate the height from the width.
- auto – The image size will be automatically defined based on a number
factors (image’s original resolution, projection, view, etc.). If you’ve made
changes here and want to go back to auto, enter
0.
Background Color – The default is transparent but you can choose to add an opaque or semi opaque background color to the image.
Transformation – Deselect, No oversampling to prevent image aliasing. This may increase render time. If you’d like shorter render times or aliasing is not a concern, then you can turn it off here. Oversampling renders the image at twice the size and then scales it down; it is only applied to images smaller than 5 megapixels with a fixed image size.
Crop to Viewing Limits – Available only for the Equirectangular type. Crop the output image to the panorama’s viewing limits when it is a partial panorama. The full panorama size and the cropped area are stored in the image’s metadata.
View
Choose to use the Default View set in the Viewing Parameters section, or, when this option is disabled, you can create a different view by manipulating the various sliders or manually entering the values. You can also choose to use only the Pan, Tilt, or Field of View of the default view by selecting the parameter. Roll has no default view option; it is set to 0 whenever the default view is used. The FoV can only be edited for types with an adjustable field of view (Rectilinear, Stereographic, Fisheye, and Cylinder); its maximum value depends on the type. Whatever changes you make here will be used on output and can be seen in the Preview.
- Use Current View – Click to apply the current view in the Viewer. This also changes the type to match the Viewer’s current projection (Rectilinear, Stereographic, or Fisheye).
Output
Format – Choose to output your image to JPEG, JPEG XL, PNG, TIFF, WebP, Photoshop (PSD/PSB), Kolor Raw (KRO), OpenEXR or Radiance HDR. PNG, TIFF, OpenEXR, WebP and JPEG XL support transparency (alpha channel). Photoshop and Kolor Raw files are saved without an alpha channel. Set the default format by right-clicking it and choosing Set as Default.
Format Settings – Settings for the selected format. The available settings depend on the format; this section is hidden for formats without settings (for example, PNG).
- Quality – For JPEG, WebP, and JPEG XL. Choose the quality of the outputted image from 1 to 100. 90 is set as the default and can be changed.
- Effort – For JPEG XL. Controls how much time the encoder spends compressing the image, from 1 (Low) to 10 (High). The default is 7.
- Transparency – For WebP and JPEG XL, select No alpha channel to remove the alpha channel from the output.
- Compression – For TIFF, choose none (the default), ZIP, JPEG, WebP, or JPEG XL compression. The Quality, Effort, and Transparency settings above appear depending on the chosen compression.
- Organization – For TIFF with none or ZIP compression, select Strip to save the TIFF organized in strips.
Output File – Choose the file name and destination of the outputted image by clicking on the folder icon.
$(n), which uses the image’s filename, to generate specific filenames for all nodes in a tour.
