3D Model Viewer Settings
The Viewer Settings bar for 3D model nodes switches camera modes, collisions, the 3D grid, and the display of ghost hotspots and camera point connections.
When a 3D model node is selected in the Tour Browser, the Viewer Settings bar below the Viewer shows the buttons for working in the model. Like the panorama buttons, they change only what you see in the Viewer while you work, not the output. The buttons are described from left to right.
3D Grid
Click the grid icon to show or hide the grid in the Viewer.
Collisions and Limits
Click the gate icon to turn collision detection and the viewing limits on or off. While the gate is open, you can move through the model’s surfaces and the viewing limits are ignored. While the gate is closed, the model’s surfaces stop the camera in the Walk, Fly, and Panorama camera modes, so you do not walk through walls. Orbit and Fly Over look at the model from outside and are not affected.
Open Nodes in Default View
When this is turned on, the model opens with its default view, also when you come back to it from a panorama. When it is turned off, the model keeps the camera where you left it. This button is available in Pano2VR Pro only.
Camera Modes
Camera modes set how you move through and around the model, for example orbiting it from outside or walking through it.
- Click the button to step to the next camera mode.
- Shift-click to step back to the previous one.
- Press and hold the button to choose a camera mode from a menu.
The camera modes are also in Edit > 3D Model > Camera Modes, with these default shortcuts:
| Camera mode | macOS | Windows |
|---|---|---|
| Orbit | Option-O | Alt+O |
| Fly | Option-F | Alt+F |
| Walk | Option-W | Alt+W |
| Fly Over | Option-V | Alt+V |
| Panorama | Option-P | Alt+P |
In every mode, Option-drag (Alt+drag on Windows) or dragging with the middle mouse button does the second thing the mode offers, described below.
Orbit
Look at the model from outside, as if it were floating in front of you. Drag to circle around the pivot point, and use the mouse wheel to zoom. Option-drag or middle-drag to pan, which moves the pivot point.
Fly
Move freely through the model in any direction, without gravity. Good for exploring large or open models. Drag to look around, and use the mouse wheel to fly forward or back. Option-drag or middle-drag to move sideways, up, and down. The model’s Fly Speed sets how fast you fly.
Walk
Move through the model at eye height, as if you were walking inside it. The camera stays about 1.5 meters above the floor beneath it and walks at about 1 meter per second, so set the model’s Units / Meter correctly first. Drag to look around, and use the mouse wheel to walk forward or back. Option-drag or middle-drag to move across the floor. Close the collisions gate so that walls stop you.
Fly Over
Glide above the model like a helicopter. The camera stays level with the horizon. Drag to move over the scene, and use the mouse wheel to zoom. Option-drag or middle-drag to circle around the pivot point, as in Orbit.
Panorama
Look around from where the camera stands, as in a panorama. Drag to turn the view and use the mouse wheel to zoom. Option-drag or middle-drag to move across the floor.
Moving with the Keyboard
Click in the Viewer first so that it receives the keys. The keys work in every camera mode:
- W or Up Arrow – Move forward.
- S or Down Arrow – Move back.
- A and D – Move left and right.
- Q and E – Move up and down.
- Left Arrow and Right Arrow – Turn left and right.
- Page Up and Page Down – Look up and down.
Press and hold Shift to move twice as fast.
Ghost Hotspots
Click to show or hide ghost hotspots in the model. A ghost hotspot appears at each Tour Node camera point that does not have a hotspot to its node yet. Point at it to see which node it stands for, and double-click it to add a point hotspot there that links to that node. This button is available in Pano2VR Pro only.
Connections
Shows or hides the connections between camera points while the Viewer is in Camera Points mode. When it is turned off, you still see the connections of the camera point you select.
