Pano2VR 8 Docs / control points

control points

Pairs of corresponding locations placed on features that are visible in both a 3D model and a panorama. By aligning these points, Pano2VR can accurately register the panorama to the 3D model, making it possible to automatically find the position and orientation of a panorama inside a model.

Control Points are pairs of corresponding locations placed on features that are visible in both a 3D model and a panorama. By aligning these points, Pano2VR can accurately register the panorama to the 3D model. This alignment is essential for ensuring that the model matches the real-world perspective of the panorama. Well-placed control points make it possible to use the model for smooth visual transitions between tour nodes and for defining realistic motion paths. Poorly placed or insufficient control points can cause misalignment, leading to visible errors in navigation or animation.

Example: Place control points on the corners of a building, the edges of a window frame, or other distinct, easy-to-identify features that appear in both the model and the panorama.
