Pano2VR 8 Docs / camera point

camera point

Points placed inside the 3D model, that either represent the position and orientation of a tour node (type tour node), or points to make connections between tour nodes, for transition paths. (types waypoint and cluster point) When switching from one panorama to another, where both panoramas have camera points representing them in a model, Pano2VR will look for the shortest path, through all connections and camera points. If they are not connected, Pano2VR will fly the direct route.

Camera Points make up a graph of points with connections between them, so that Pano2VR can automatically find a path from one tour node to another, to move the camera along when transitioning between tour nodes. Camera Points of type ‘Tour Node’ (represented by a camera in the viewer) represent a tour node or panorama, with its exact position and orientation, inside a model. You can make connections between Camera Points, to build a graph. Camera Points of type ‘Waypoint’ (represented by a little sphere in the viewer) can be used, to modify a camera path, to go around corners, through doors, etc. Camera Points of type ‘Cluster Point’ (represented by an octahedron in the viewer) are similar to the type ‘Waypoint’. The difference being, that these Cluster Points are only used for making connections, without affecting the motion path the camera will take. They can be used for building clusters of Camera Points, that are supposed to take the same or similar routes, without connecting each and every camera point to all these routes. Imagine having a bunch of Camera Points (of type tour node) in a room, and a couple of Waypoints in doors, for connecting the room to the outside or other rooms. Here you can put one Cluster Point inside that room, connect all tour node Camera Points to that Cluster Point, and then that Cluster Point to each Waypoint in each door. That way, Pano2VR will find, that each tour node in the room is connected to each Waypoint in doors, and when doing transitions, move directly from the tour node position to the Waypoint position, avoiding the Cluster Point that is connecting them.
