Crashing and/or bad performance in fullscreen on Mac Safari

I've run into an issue with Safari on Mac where the panorama will start to run very sluggish after a while in fullscreen, to the point where safari actually becomes unresponsive.
Sometimes it freezes up as soon as you enter fullscreen, sometimes it will be fine for several minutes.

I have tried different versions of pano2vr but it seems this problem is present on all stable as well as the 5 beta

This only happens with the HTML5 panoramas, flash version works fine.
Running OS X 10.10.5 and Safari 8.0.8

Firefox runs fine in fullscreen on mac so it's only an issue with Safari.

Anyone experienced something similar?

Jesper

Hi,
You say only happening with Safari, how long in fullscreen does it have to be left in fullscreen be fore you get the slowdown?

It varies, in some cases I've gotten the slowdown instantly or within a few seconds, sometimes it has take upwards of 10min before it happens.
And yes, only in Safari.

It does seem to be performance related, older macs display the problem quicker and more often than newer ones.
Worst case so far has been on these specs:

MacBook Pro (2011)
Processor 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5
RAM 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB
OSX 10.10.1

Have had reports of the problem on brand new MacBooks too though.

I had some similar problems in the past that disappeared when I moved to multires HTML5 panos.

I take it this is when uploaded or when its local.
If local are you running through the Pano2VR 5 web server?
Do you have a link to the panorama?

To you experience the same when looking at examples on our website?

Hello, thank you for your response.

I haven't tried it locally on the Mac, I get the problem when uploaded.

You can check it out here: http://project.diakrit.com/pano/pano_pr ... t_nat.html
I checked the demos out and fr4om what I can tell it seems to work better on this one https://ggnome.com/samples/pano2vr_4/synagoge/

So hopefully there's something wrong with my output that could be fixed, in which case I would appreciate any help I can get to fix it.
I tried multires as suggested by AlainC but it made no difference for me, still have the same issue.

Jesper

Hi Hopki,

On the MacBook specs I sent you that one crashed almost immediately (few seconds at most). It should not be longer than a few minutes.
I might add that I do try to reproduce it by panning manually and not just letting the auto rotation spin away, it's when dragging I get the issue mostly.

What output settings were used for the synagoge demo? that one did better and I'd like to see how the one I've generated differs.

Jesper
