I followed the advice in the other thread.
I couldn't add the summit of a mountain, Cefn Du, as a Place in Pano2VR for uploading to Google.
So I created the Place myself in Google Maps, had an email from Google saying that it was accepted and would appear in Google Maps in 24hours or so. Seems to be up and running, and a section of my panorama is showing up too:
I added some notes as well, just to check it was real.
However, when I go into Google's Place ID Finder it doesn't show up...
There are lots of 'Cefn Du's, but not mine. Means I can't add it as a Place in Pano2VR. Can anyone explain what is going on here?
Thanks.

Hi Keith,
Something very odd is going on.
The place does exist and doing a name search should show it but it does not.
I know Thomas is looking into this.
Regards,
Hopki

Thanks Hopki.
Yes, a bit odd. Nothing to do with Pano2VR really as it's not showing up in Google's own Place Finder search tool. But this fault ripples through to Pano2VR's 'Places' search box too.

Added a label before, it didn't seem to make much difference!
Something has changed:
The location now shows up in the Google Place ID finder tool, on the map at least. I can click on it and it offers to open it in Google Maps. However, it still doesn't show up in the search box, so I can't find the actual Place ID string to copy and paste it into Pano2VR!!
Copying the link to Google Maps reveals this:
maps.google.com/maps?ll=53.121662,-4.177059&z=16&t=m&hl=en-GB&gl=US&mapclient=apiv3&cid=9263117230815215931
But whatever the string is at the end it's not the Place ID.

Finally, the Cefn Du I added to Google Maps myself is showing up in Google's Place ID Finder tool:
As it happens, it's also showing up in the Pano2VR Places search as well, so no need to copy the ID code:
So it looks like the system does work, just takes a bit of time?

I think due to the volume of data Google has each day means it will take time, but good to see it does show.
