Multiresolution allows you to break an image down into multiple levels (or layers) so that every zoom level has good resolution. To learn more about it check out the video below. Following the video is the text version of the video tutorial.

◊ TIP: If outputting gigapixel panoramas set the Memory Hint in settings/preferences to at least half of your computer's RAM to speed up the process before starting. The default is 300MB. If you have 8GB of RAM, set it to 4000MB.

  1. Add a Flash or HTML5 output format.
  2. Go to the Multiresolution tab.
  3. Enable the feature by selecting Enable.

    Immediately, a pop-up window appears asking if levels should be automatically added. Choose, Yes.

    The Levels section will now be populated with levels.

  4. Add more levels as needed/desired, by clicking, Add, in the Levels section.

    ◊ TIP: Add as many levels that are needed until the highest level is the same as or lower than the tile size.
  5. In the Basic Settings section, change the Level Tile Size to best fit the project.TIP: Choose a size that is evenly divisible by each level. It is possible that this just happens to be lowest (least resolution) level. Although, check the math anyway to avoid uneven tiles.
  6. Choose a Format.This will only appear if the input image is an equirectangular projection. We suggest leaving it on Cubic.
  7. Choose a filename template. The default, tile/c%c_l%r_%y_%x.jpg, will place the tiles in a folder called, tiles, and the file will be named with the cube face number (%c), levels in reverse order (%r), and tile coordinates (%y, %x).

  8. Choose which levels, if any, should be embedded within the SWF by selecting the box under the column, Embedded.
    ◊ NOTE: Embedding levels will increase the output file size.
    ◊ TIP: If handing a project over to a client, embedding every level may be convenient.
  9. Choose which levels, if any, should be downloaded when the player loads, by selecting levels under the column, Load at startup.
  10. Choose which levels, if any, should be decoded when the player loads, by selecting levels under the column, Decode at startup.
    ◊ NOTE: In general, it's enough to keep either the decode at startup or embed selected for the lowest resolution while keeping the rest not selected and letting Pano2VR download the tiles when they come in view.

  11. Leave the Advanced Settings at their defaults. And finally, click OK.
  12. Click, Yes to output the file.
