Hello, is it possible to create stereo panos from one 360 image and view them on a headset? Or in order to create them I need 2 cameras side by side?

Thanks

Hi,
The images need to be taken about 64mm apart.
I had a little play doing this in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=10183

Hopki,
has there been any progress on the stereo player since January? I seem to recall trying it and concluding that it was promising but not fully usable.

BTW your "two rotator" single camera rig is a brilliant idea!

bkiter,
Two parallel cameras is best for stereo panos, because it prevents motion between the left and right eye images. They must be small to get the lens centers close together -- 65 to 70 mm is practical with MFT or the small Sonys, 80-90mm with compact full frame camera. And well synchronized to a common release button.
With 2 cams you can take stereo panos much like normal ones, generally with a bit more overlap, but contrary to some recommendations huge numbers of views are not needed.
For stitching, PTGui alone, or better, in combination with my helper program PT3D (http://panini-pro.com/PT3D) works well. It is very much like stitching hand-held or pole panoramas. You use blend masks to hide mismatches at the seams -- which must follow matching paths in the left and right spheres.
You can self-publish with P2VR, or krpano, or upload left-over-right equirectangulars to 360Cities.net (for 'cardboard' viewing from web) or Gala360app.com (for viewing on GearVR or DayDream headsets). And the Oculus 360Photos app can play local stereo equirectangulars on GearVR and Rift.

Hi Thomas,
As far as I know the stereo player is working ok?
You need to set the hotspots in both pano left and pano right to node 2, left and right.
That said in the hotspot viewer mode you can see the pan and tilt of hotspots so easily placed in the correct positioned.
If you have other issues please let me know.

I liked Wims idea as you take both left and right with the same lens at the same time.

Hopki
