I've been using Pano2VR for a year or so and I just finished my latest project for USC. I just want to thank Anahum, Texas360, and Hopki. Without this forum I never would have figured out many of the little "gadgets" and functions I had to come up with to make this work let alone getting the same skin to work on iPads.

Here's the link to USC's home page with the tour button about half way down.

Thanks again! This is great software!

Very nice work! I would be interested to hear more about the equipment and techniques you used. In particular, I've always wondered how aerial shots are captured.

Thanks,
Ben

A panorama friend of mine here in Fort Worth Texas does R/C aerial panoramas.

He uses a $5,000 Remote control helicopter that is about 4' long with an electric motor. His rig has about 18 minutes flying time. The canon camera/ fisheye lens is mounted in the undercarriage and remotely controlled and gear driven bracket spins around while the camera takes the imaging. He had a downlink video display that provides a straight down view and a altimeter showing height above the ground. When he puts his helmet on and shoulder mounted harness he looks sort of like Mr. Gadget. But he gets it up to altitude and directly over the ground location - one click starts the camera rotation which auto fires the images.

And yes he lost his first RC helicopter over a lake by flying too far out - not enough power to return. Apparently, even with foam strut floats... the camera/ motor got wet. He was able to retrieve the helicopter body...

He told me that post processing time is a nightmare. Image Horizon does not exactly stitch well. He also does Photo Shop sky replacement in order to remove the helicopter body from the panorama top. When he is finished it is a really great final product.

Enjoy his website work. Its worth every penny he charges.

The first pano was shot from a helicopter by Ron Pepper. A great guy who's been doing this type of work for years and who first taught me how do it well.
