Hi Gnomes,

When using SVG images I create myself in Affinity Designer or Affinity Photo, they do either not show up, or only show some elements of the svg in the skin editor. This is very confusing because I now many times see no image under the svg tab, while it actually is there.

The images then DO show up in the output, so on that part all is good. It's just that I don't see them in the skin editor.

Also, many times if I change an image, the skin editor is not prompting to save (no asterix next to filename in windowheader) and just closes without save warning if I click close. If I change other parameters or text or anything, it always prompts to save, just not always when changing images.

I tried this with images with the same name (when I changed the image outside P2V and want to replace) but also with images with different filenames.

Is this something in svg, or a bug? To try and get the svg's to show, I export them as flattened svg, but they still don't show in the editor.

regards, Frank

Hi Frank,
I have only ever use Adobe Illustrator and saving to 1.1 all was fine.
I know not all SVG's are the same and some dont show.
I have had the same issues with MP4 and MP3s.
Check you save settings or make some changes and test.

Hopki

Hi Martin,

I don't have much experience with svg, it's a different beast then PNG, gif or jpg :) I'll have to investigate but to save me frustration atm I switched to PNG's.

Thanks for acknowledging there are issues with svg (not attributed to Pano2VR per se but more the image format). I do see many topics on that on Google.

regards, Frank

Hi Frank,
You can add your SVG's if you like them but then under the advanced tab of the HTML5 output select convert SVG to PNG.
See if they then display.

Hi Hopki,

Thanks for the suggestion, but the issue is I can only not see them in the skin-editor. The output is fine, they do show in the live tour.

Converting them to png on output changes nothing, I can still not see them as svg in the skin-editor.

What I can do if I find time is try various svg export methods in Affinity Designer. I can choose to export svg 'for export', 'for print', 'for web' and 'flattened'.

I had issues with 'for web' and 'flattened', so I guess I have two other options to try, although they seemed less obvious.

Not enough time to investigate atm though.

regards, Frank

Hi Frank,
This sounds odd, can you post one of your SVG's.

Hi Frank,

I just did a test with the different SVG export options from Affinity Designer and all showed up in the skin except for the SVG (for export) version.

Here's a screen shot...

Here's a zip file with the samples if you want to try them out.

In your screen capture... I see SVG-flatten.svg is not displayed.

In your zip thank you for that - I see flatten, for export, for print and for web.

Yes, I didn't include it as it didn't work. Here's a shot with the "flattened'' svg. As you can see it doesn't display in the Canvas but it does show up in the Live Preview. In the response to Frank I should have said "flatten" doesn't work not "for export" which does work.

In my test all the SVG exports show up in the canvas with the exception of "flatten" :-)
