Hi,

I'm experiencing an issue with the Skin-Editor. It is a bit difficult to explain and I do not know what exactly triggers this behavior. I will try to explain what happens.

Lots of my skins contain a menu with links to specific nodes. These links are node-markers with a set of actions.
One of the main actions it should do is "Mouse Click -> Open Next Panorama -> "node name"

The "node-name" is selected from the drop down menu and these names look like the names beneath the Images in the Tour-Browser.

This works fine and is as I expected. Occasionally when I have to edit a tour and re-generate the tour the resulting tour has a menu with non-working menu-links. When I open de skin and investigate the actions the node-name have been changed.

For instance when the link "node name" was cdnb-09 .... it has changed in {cdnb-09} ... the two braces {} have been added. The result is a non-working link. To make it function again I have to open each link and select the right "node-name" from the dropdown menu again. Sometimes there are tours with 80+ links which can be very time consuming.
The only link that is not influenced is the opening link. I am used to rename this link to the company's name (in User Data -> Title) because this is also the name that is showing up in the browser Tab.

Is this a known bug ? I'm using the latest 5.1 beta 2 release but I noticed this also in earlier 5 versions.

Regards,

Arjan

Node Markers relate to 'panorama Tag names' which will be the node name.

Yes, node name syntax contains { brace symbol }

Hi Arjan,
Can you give me a step by step of what you are editing?
So you have a working menu with open next pano actions, this is working ok and then you close the project.
You open the project and change a few things and then the node names get {} wrapped around them.
What is it you are changing, and is it consistent. A step by step would be good.

Also when you are editing the action you see mouse click, open next pano, then your node name. If you select the advanced menu you should see {nodex}, x being the node number.

Can you check that when you open the action that advanced mode is not selected, or if it is, deselect it and do you see the correct name in the list?

Hopki

Hi Hopki,

I think I have an idea in which direction this problem occurs. The skin I noticed it in today is a skin I made on the 25th of March 2016, when I open it in V5.1 beta, the node-names are bracketed with {}. I created this skin in a earlier version 5.0/12111 .... could this be the problem ? I'm not sure if this situation is for all skins I notice this problem with.

To make it more visible I made two snapshots:

and

No expert mode selected. The only way to make the link work again is select the same node from the dropdowm menu (braces are removed then)

Would you like a copy of the skin the problem appears in ? (I use dropbox so I can go back into the version history of this skin ....)

Regards,

Arjan

Hi Arjan,
As had as we try we can not reproduce this.
Please can you list step by step how you get the issue.
Starting from creating the skin in version 5.0.3.

Also include how you are editing, do you open the project file with your input images and then edit or do you just open the skin, which then opens a new instance of Pano2VR with no inout images to edit the skin, as much detail as you can provide.

To let you know where we are, this is the only report of this and we can not reproduce.
We can only think that you have opened the skin on its own and edited the location.

How Pano2VR works is if you select a location, you see the node name. If you open the skin ob its own the you see (node1} or whatever node the action points to.
When opened in the project again you will see the node name again.

I tried this with the skin you posted and I get what I expect, Added to a project, set the open next pano action to a node, now shows node name. Open the skin and see {node1}, open the project and see the node name.

Hello Hopki,

I see it with all early projects that were created with Pano2VR versions before 5.1 containing a menu.
When the skin contains a menu with links, these links are messed up and I find myself going through the menu and selecting the corresponding nodes in all menu items.

I'm not opening the skin only, I'm opening the whole project and edit the skin that is linked within the project.

I'll prepare a pre 5.1 project and explain which steps I take.

Arjan

Ok, I think I have pinpointed the problem, it's not in the versions of Pano2VR it's in the project file node-ID names.

It's related to the problem I've reported a year ago about the node-ID's containing "-" symbols
( see viewtopic.php?f=13&t=10889)
This was causing the Google-Maps screen within the project-editor to be empty. I've worked around this problem by removing the "-" symbols from the node-ID's in the project file with a little find and replace script. Only this way I could use Google-Maps in my projects again.

Now when I was trying to reproduce this issue, I had a clear moment realizing that the skin is also using the node-ID's from the project.
Because I removed the minus symbol from the node-ID's in the project-file they are not identical anymore with the skinfile.

Arjan
