Hey,

Has anyone had any issues embedding their panoramas into a Facebook timeline. I've been using the Pano2VR embed file but all of a sudden it's stopped working and all I have is the preview image without the usual.

Here's a post I did on the 16th of September https://www.facebook.com/tonyredhead/po ... 9843137939 and here's one using the same url but posted today https://www.facebook.com/tonyredhead/po ... 8245047939

The first one shows the button to launch the embedded panorama the second just shows an image that when you click on it goes to the website.

I'd appreciate it if anyone who has embedded a panorama to try it again with the same url and let me know if you are seeing the same issue.

FYI I've just tried it using a URL from another secure server https://redsquareproductions.squarespac ... index.html and it's not working with this url either.

Same issue here. September 23 I did post the last successful project, including the play button. Yesterday I tried a new project, but that did not work. All former successful projects give problems now. Weird, I hope there can be found a workaround.

As I mentioned on the Facebook post. I was able to post your link to my timeline no problem and get an interactive pano. Try deleting your post and try again.

Hi Jim,

Deleting the post has no effect. What is really weird is that the embed works if it's in the comments section but doesn't work if it's in the main post area. Dennis would you be able to confirm that this is the case.

Check out this post https://www.facebook.com/tonyredhead/po ... 8245047939, you can see that the main post just shows the preview image but in the comments section I can add the url and it works. The shearing is a previously published panorama url and the railway panorama has never been published on Facebook.

Hi Tony,

Behavior confirmed. I get the play button when I paste the link as a comment. I do not see the text from the og-data, but the play button at least does appear.
It gets weirder and weirder. In the mean time I am selling the product together with my projects as if it is still working. Argh.

Regards

Dennis

Some good news Jim came to the rescue with some great workarounds to the Facebook issue. Jim, I hope you don't mind me posting your response from the Panoramic Photographers on Facebook group.

"Something has changed in Facebook that causes direct link in post not to work, but it still works if you using the Share Dialog to post. This is done by pressing a share button on the original web page.Like: http://ggnome.com/ext/demo/karyn/embed_ ... park2.html using a link like this: https://www.facebook.com/sharer/sharer. ... park2.html or using the debug page and then the link towards the bottom in the section "When shared, this is what will be included" https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug. I always use the debug page when posting new links to make sure the meta data is correct. And it works when there is a link as a comment to a thread to a Facebook post."

I'd never used the debug page before and it is very helpful to see all of the meta data displayed before you publish the post. Great for checking your code before it's published. There is also another bonus that I like, posts of panoramas shared via the debug menu don't include the original http:// url. I've found some people click on the URL rather than the image so I like this aspect of the debug method of sharing. Here's a comparison of the share normally via Facebook timeline vs via the debug page [debug version on the left]

Quick Update: Looks like it's back to normal operations again. Appreciate it if someone else can verify it.
