Occulus Rift and panos
For the last couple of years I have been looking at building an immersive CAVE system for displaying my panoramas in a classroom. Now, with the Occulus Rift being so cheap, I am curious to know if anyone has experiment yet with an Occulus development kit and panoramic images. If you have, I'd be curious to hear your experience thus far.

I think head mounted displays are a great way to experience interactive panoramas and interactive movies. Especially when they are 3D.
I have tried a few out on the DK1 of the Rift and we have DK2s ordered. I have created my own stereoscopic 3D 360° panoramic videos for the purpose of viewing with head mounted displays. http://photocreations.ca/3D/index.html
The entire web is currently not meant to be viewed as VR but Firefox and Chrome have initiatives to make that better. Once that is done then you wont have to take the Rift on and off so much. For day to day computer work the resolution of the monitor beat the resolution of what the consumer version of the Rift will be. But the immersion that is obtained by viewing with the Rift is amazing.
I just received some plus lenses to create my own cardboard mount for my phone. Tomorrows project.
But this is just the early stages and thing will only improve.
